- Bad air in...
- When the building or the ducts are improperly sealed, air bypasses the conditioning system.
- Bypassed air brings with it the environment from which it came. Often, that means you are exposed to the air from you attic or crawl space.
- The creatures that live in these spaces are not usually welcome inside the building. We should be uncomfortable with what is coming from those spaces.
- Good air out...
- We use a significant amount of resources making our indoor spaces clean and comfortable.
- Reducing the amount of air escaping that environment quickly reduces the amount of resources necessary to condition our spaces.
- Pests are less likely to stay...
- Like us, critters like to be comfortable. Providing cozy private spaces for your critters makes them feel at home.
- Hopefully, making those places where you do not like to go more uncomfortable, critters will relocate to a new home.
- Pests also find their way into your building through those drafty openings.
- Relatives may be more comfortable...
- Having the most comfortable home in the family may make gatherings more inviting.
- Unfortunately, guests may be less likely to go home to the drafty homes.
- Employees may be more comfortable...
- Workers that are comfortable in their work space may be less likely to rush out.
- A comfortable work space should invite productivity.
- Consider mechanical ventilation...
- Like us, buildings need to breathe. A well sealed building would likely need mechanical ventilation with air from a good source.
- People produce moisture. Moisture can quickly build up in a poorly ventilated building.
- Combustion appliances need air in and exhaust out to burn safely. Keep things moving in the right direction.
- Those are not ghosts...
- That air moving across the back of your neck is not the breath of a ghost. It is your building taking a breath of that outside air.
